Description
This kit provides hardware for securely installing our wood products. The 1 1/4" Wood Plug is a round peg with flat ends, designed to fit into a pre-drilled hole to conceal the screw used in mounting. Once installed with glue, the plug follows the natural direction of the wood grain, ensuring a seamless appearance. Depending on your preference, the plug can either be left slightly raised for a more rustic look or trimmed and sanded flush for a smoother, more finished appearance.
The Hot Dipped Galvanized Lag Screw used inside the product is covered with the wooden plug, providing both strength and enhanced protection. Hot Dipped Galvanized coating offers very good corrosion resistance, making it ideal for use in coastal or very moist areas. However, if the lag screw will be exposed, opt for stainless steel fasteners instead, as they are less likely to react with the tannins in cedar wood and cause staining. To further reduce the risk of bleeding, pre-drill and countersink the screws, and consider applying a high-quality primer or sealer to the cedar before installation to create a moisture barrier.
We offer plugs in three standard wood species: Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, and Eastern White Pine.
