Our 1x12 Engineered Western Red Cedar Board with an S1S2E (Surfaced One Side, Two Edges) finish offers a high-quality, dimensional solution for trim, fascia, and cladding applications. The face side is smoothly planed, while the reverse side retains a natural texture. Both edges are square and surfaced for clean, uniform installation.
Manufactured using finger-jointed and laminated Western Red Cedar, this engineered board provides enhanced stability, reduced warping, and long lengths that maintain consistent appearance and performance. It is ideal for vertical or horizontal applications where natural beauty and straight lines are essential.
Applications: Commonly used for fascia, frieze boards, rake trim, beam wrapping, and large-format paneling—especially in projects requiring stain-grade finishes and dimensional consistency.
Size Note: The nominal size is 1x12. The actual finished size is 1" x 11 1/4", with a tolerance of ±1/16". Lengths are typically available in 4', 8', 10', 12', 16', or 20'.
Appearance Note: The front face is planed and ready for additional surface finishing to meet your accepted quality standards—ideal for staining or painting. No wood filler or extra sanding is applied. The back side may show texture variation.
Finish Requirement: A field-applied topcoat is required after installation to protect the board and maintain the manufacturer’s warranty.

For select products with S4S or S1S2E profiles, Timber Build offers an optional Smooth Finish upgrade—our signature custom preparation that enhances surface quality and makes each board stain- or paint-ready. This Smooth Finish is an exact match to the finish used on our standard Smooth Finish product line.
This premium finish includes detailed surface preparation beyond standard milling: we inspect and repair surface imperfections, apply wood putty where needed, and sand all exposed surfaces to a 100-grit smoothness. Edges remain square unless otherwise specified.
Ideal For: Projects that demand a refined appearance, such as exposed trim, wrapped columns, high-end exterior details, or interior installations where a clean, finished look is required.
