Our craftsman at Timber Build manufactures our handmade Classic Board and Batten Shutters starting with hand-selected solid Western Red Cedar timbers. We use an internal joining system, as well as coated screws to insure we provide the strongest shutters available. This combined with the overall thickness of the shutters being 2 ¾” in thickness assures our shutters will not twist or warp once installed and exposed to the elements. What styles of shutters do you offer?
We craft board-and-batten, louvered, and raised-panel cedar shutters. Each style can be built to your window dimensions — tell us your opening size and the look you want.
Are your shutters functional or decorative?
Most exterior shutters today are installed as fixed decorative pairs, but our solid cedar shutters can be built and hung as operable shutters with the appropriate hinges and hardware. Let us know which you need.
How do I measure for window shutters?
For a decorative pair, each shutter is typically half the window width and matches the window height. Measure the window opening width and height and share them with us — we'll confirm the right shutter size.
Will cedar shutters hold up outdoors?
Yes. Western Red Cedar naturally resists moisture, rot, and insects and stays dimensionally stable, making it one of the best woods for exterior shutters. A quality exterior paint or stain adds further protection.
Do shutters come finished?
Shutters ship unfinished so you can paint or stain them to match your trim. We recommend priming and painting all sides before installation for maximum longevity.
