4x4 Western Red Cedar Timber – Rough Sawn (RS) – Engineered
Our Engineered RS finish features a clean, resawn surface on all four sides of the timber, providing a straight and uniform profile with square edges. For projects that require enhanced stability, reduced warping, or longer spans, Engineered Western Red Cedar is an excellent choice. It is also suitable for use in coastal environments when properly treated and installed with corrosion-resistant hardware.
Engineered Western Red Cedar RS is well-suited for framing, structural components requiring added stability, as well as decks, porches, and other exterior or interior applications. It offers a balance between rugged wood character and dimensional consistency.
Size Note: The actual finished size of an Engineered 4x4 RS timber is 3 1/2" x 3 1/2", with a manufacturing tolerance of ±1/16". This finish does not include sanding or edge easing—corners remain sharp and square, and some light saw marks may be visible.
Appearance Note: No wood filler or putty is applied, and no sanding or surface repair is performed. Natural color variation and minor imperfections are to be expected.
Engineered Western Red Cedar maintains the same dimensional profile and natural sawn surface appearance as our solid Rough Sawn timbers, while offering improved strength, stability, and consistency through a laminated construction process.
