Description
6x6 Engineered Western Red Cedar Column – Rough Sawn
Our 6x6 Engineered Rough Sawn Column combines rustic visual appeal with modern engineered strength. Each column is constructed from kiln-dried, finger-jointed Western Red Cedar, offering exceptional stability and resistance to warping, twisting, or checking over time.
The rough sawn finish provides a textured, natural wood surface with visible saw marks—ideal for designs that emphasize a rugged or traditional timber look. These columns are surfaced and resawn to deliver consistent dimensions while preserving the raw, authentic character of the cedar.
Applications: Perfect for porch posts, beam supports, pergolas, and other architectural elements where structural strength and rustic aesthetics are both essential. Also suitable for coastal regions when used with appropriate treatment and hardware.
Size Note and Load Capacity: The actual dimensions of a 6x6 column are 5 7/16" x 5 7/16", with a manufacturing tolerance of ±1/16". Available in lengths of 6', 8', 9', 10', and 12'. Structurally certified to support allowable eccentric loads of up to 11,877 lbs (10') and 9,713 lbs (12') at 19% moisture content.

All AbsolutePosts™ are manufactured 1 inch shorter than the stated length. For example, an 8′ post will measure 7′11″.

Important Installation Note from Timber Build:
All materials must be carefully reviewed prior to installation. Installation of any product will be considered final acceptance. Once installed, Timber Build (in partnership with Woodtone) will not honor claims related to material quality or appearance.
Finish Requirement:
AbsolutePosts™ are supplied uncoated. A site-applied topcoat is required after installation to ensure long-term protection and to keep the manufacturer’s warranty valid.
