4x8 Douglas Fir Timber – Rough Sawn
Our 4x8 Rough Sawn Douglas Fir Timber offers the strength of structural-grade softwood with a rugged, natural texture. Each timber is milled to retain its resawn surface on all four sides, delivering a bold, timeless appearance suited for exposed architectural and structural applications.
Douglas Fir is prized for its high strength-to-weight ratio, dimensional stability, and long-span performance, making this 4x8 size especially well-suited for use as structural beams, rafters, and load-bearing members in residential and light commercial construction. Its durability and density also provide excellent holding power for bolts, screws, and fasteners in framing and timber joinery.
Applications: Commonly used for exposed beams, porch headers, structural framing, pergolas, timber trusses, and exterior structures where natural woodgrain and visible strength are design priorities.
Size Note: The nominal size is 4x8. The actual finished size is 3 1/2" x 7 1/2", with a manufacturing tolerance of ±1/16". As a rough sawn product, surface variation and visible saw marks are part of its natural character.
Appearance Note: No sanding, filling, or edge easing is performed. Minor surface imperfections and natural wood variation are expected. Optional finish sanding and sealing can be performed on-site to meet project-specific visual requirements.
