Sample 6x6 Engineered Western Red Cedar Column – Surfaced Four Sides (S4S)
Our 6x6 Engineered Western Red Cedar S4S Column Samples combine structural integrity with the natural beauty of cedar. Surfaced on all four sides, it offers a clean, uniform appearance with square edges—ideal for both interior and exterior applications where aesthetics and strength are paramount.
These sample columns are engineered using finger-jointed Western Red Cedar, providing enhanced stability and resistance to warping, twisting, and splitting. The kiln-drying process further ensures dimensional consistency, making them suitable for a variety of climates, including coastal environments when properly treated and installed with corrosion-resistant hardware.
Applications: Perfect for use as porch posts, pergolas, gazebos, and other structural or decorative elements in residential or commercial projects.
Size Note and Load Capacity: The actual finished dimensions of a 6x6 column are 5 7/16" x 5 7/16", with a manufacturing tolerance of ±1/16". Sample pieces are approximately 10-12" long. These columns are structurally certified to support allowable eccentric loads of up to 11,877 lbs (10') and 9,713 lbs (12') at 19% moisture content.
Appearance Note: The S4S finish provides a smooth surface ready for staining or painting. No additional sanding or surface repair is performed, preserving the natural character of the wood. A site-applied topcoat is required upon installation for optimal performance and warranty compliance.
